3-DAY MIDDLE EASTERN DANCE WORKSHOP with guest artist Saqra

The workshop and showcase will be held in Fairbanks, AK at Pioneer Park Dance Hall (Farthest North Square and Round Dance Center). Pioneer Park (formerly known as Alaskaland) is located on the corner of Airport Way and Peger Road.

Saturday 10/06/07 (1.5 hrs) 10-11:30am
Greek Line Dancing - 2 fun Greek line dances with variations. Breakdown on how to teach simplified versions of them to an audience quickly!

Saturday 10/06/07 (3 hrs) 12:30-3:00pm
Double Veil - Double Veil Choreography to the gorgeous song "Yar Tou Noush Es" recorded by Khatchig Jingirian. Technique & Choreography. Bring two veils, half circle of matching weight preferred, but any two will do. Veils available for purchase if desired.

Advanced Body Isolations, Effective weight changes, 7 essential shimmies, power concepts, etc.

Monday 10/08/07 (3 hours) 9am-Noon
3 Rockin' Rhythms: Saidi, Chiftiteli, & "Karsilima" 9/8 Combos & Cymbal Technique - Three common rhythms. A short history of each, signature steps and technique on working with each rhythm, combos, cymbal patterns and more. Bring your cymbals, or check out what is for sale and get some new treasures.
